In 2014, 4Culture Association and WASP — Working Art Space and Production, in co-production with Tangaj Dance and LifeLongBurning start the X Platform — a residency program that offers support in the research and production of innovative, new and trans-media interactive projects, dedicated to the new generation of interactive artists in Romania, as well as Europe.
X Platform is a cultural project organized with the support of the EU Culture 2007 — 2013 Program. A cultural project financed by AFCN – The National Cultural Fund Administration and The Bucharest City Council Centre for Cultural Projects, ARCUB — București 555 Program.
Seeking to express a critical understanding of technology, X Platform addresses young visual artists preocupied with the sincretism of artistic genres, and particularly to those involved in digital projects and interdisciplinary installations. The 2014 edition’s theme focuses on reimagining the exhibition space at WASP, a modern and minimalist studio dedicated to performing productions situated in a former communist factory, through an evolving approach, both in aesthetic and reflexive terms.
Leaving the institutionalized art world behind, the project is a manifesto for creativity and innovation for the new generation. Platform X does not encourage a static perspective, but envisions space in continous motion and transformation. The aesthetic purpose of the platform is to arouse curiosity, to play with perception and to introduce original performative processes that create a sense of deliberate disorientation.
